If you have an idea to encourage economic development in St. Joseph . . . we'd like to hear it!
If you ask ten people what economic development is you will likely receive at least ten answers. Some say economic development is:
About jobs and attracting/retaining business
About improving the quality of life
About diversifying the tax base
About making the community better
About investment, roof tops, and education
In reality economic development is all those things and more. Economic development at its most basic is anything governments do to cultivate and nurture a healthy economy. Economic development encompasses public policy, infrastructure, tax structure, and detailed programming.
